Cape Gazette - A mural depicting the railroad legacy of Lewes is on a fast track after winning approval from mayor and city council, and the parks and recreation commission. The permanent art installation will be located on the parking lot side of the Margaret H. Rollins Community Center on Adams Avenue, facing the Lewes Junction Railroad and Bridge Association's train display in Stango Park.

A concept sketch was presented to mayor and city council July 13, and the parks and recreation commission July 20. Both bodies voted unanimously to approve the project. "I really feel that it brings the whole train area together, brings it all the way through, ties a bow and looks great," said Heidi Lowe, Lewes Public Art Committee chair.

Artist Michael Rosato is familiar with the Rollins Center, having completed a mural of Lewes maritime history on the opposite side of the building in 2025. Like the maritime design, the railroad mural will be painted using a technique that creates a 3D effect called trompe l’oeil, which makes the images jump off the wall.
The installation could happen as soon as late fall, according to David Ludlow of LJRBA.
