For the 6th time since our founding in 2001, Lewes in Bloom welcomed advisors from America in Bloom to evaulate our beautiful maritime city in July, 2026. America in Bloom was founded by a group of horticulture industry professionals to connect people to the benefits of plants, trees, and flowers. Lewes in Bloom founder Warren Golde said "America in Bloom has been instrumental in the progress of Lewes and its beautification efforts".

The America in Bloom competition is not simply a beauty contest, nor is it based solely on the advisors' visit to our community. America in Bloom evaluates communities using a detailed set of metrics that measure multiple aspects of a city. The criteria is used to guide communities on becoming more beautiful and vibrant.
Many things that make our community special occur behind the scenes from programs, collaborative partnerships, and volunteer efforts. These things may not be immediately visible, yet they are provided in a detailed Community Profile that is submitted to the AIB advisors. Our Community Profile is an opportunity to tell the complete story of Lewes and how our community meets each of the America in Bloom metrics.
